Bond Street Ale and Coffee, formerly Bond and Smolders Café and Bakery, has reopened in a brand-new location at 1626 S. Federal Highway, across from the original storefront. Bond Street Ale and Coffee is located on the east side of the newly renovated Walgreen’s building, facing east.

Loyal customers will be happy to see that Bond Street Ale and Coffee will offer the familiar array of European-style baked goods, breakfast and lunch items, including quiches, avocado toast, country baskets with sausages, salads and sandwiches on its signature breads. There will be the sultan hats, filled with brie and caramelized onion and eggplant cheesecake (indescribable) as well as tarts, different-flavored croissants, scones and fresh-baked donuts. Lattes, cappuccinos and fresh-squeezed juices will continue to flow.

Customers will be even more excited to hear Bond Street Ale and Coffee will be soon open for dinner with a full menu of small plates and street food items as well a wide selection of wine and craft beers.

“We’re happy to be back to serve our loyal customers,” said Philip Van Egmond, owner of Bond Street Ale and Coffee. “We get a lot of inspiration from them to expand and diversify our menu and maintain a commitment to quality.”

The décor is classic Bond and Smolders’ Renaissance 1960s – palatial but contemporary – with hand-carved wood throughout as well counters and platforms painted in rustic style, thanks to Van Egmond, an artist by trade who was classically trained at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam, Netherlands, his native country.

“We want to serve all tastes and interests, from our oceanfront friends on A1A to professionals looking for a great meeting place,” Van Egmond said.

Bond Street Ale and Coffee’s hours are currently 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. They will eventually be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday, once their dinner and evening beverage menu is completed. Bond Street Ale and Coffee can also handle bulk orders and provide catering services. It’s wholesale business can also provide breads in bulk to area restaurants and grocers.
